What are the different levels of EV charging?

Level 1: Standard outlet; slow charging.

Level 2: 240V outlet; faster charging. These can be purchased and installed at your home in most cases.

Level 3: DC fast charging; 80% charge in ~30 minutes. These are the ones similar to what we have on site here at our dealership. These typically require a form of payment to use and you pay a fee per kWH to charge your vehicle.

Are there incentives for installing a home EV charger?

Incentives will vary depending on your specific location, and utility company.  The best advice is to reach out to a local licensed electrician familiar with level 2 in home charging installations for most up to date information in your area.

What should I do if my EV runs out of charge?

Ford Roadside Assistance will tow your vehicle to the nearest charger or dealership.

How can I maximize the driving range of my EV?

Drive at moderate speeds, use regenerative braking, and reduce climate control usage. In addition, the best thing you can do is to “pre-condition” your vehicle while it’s plugged in at home to get the vehicle’s heating or AC system to your desired cabin temperature and windows defrosted etc. so the vehicle wont need to expend any energy doing these things as much while driving.

What maintenance is required for Ford EVs?

Regular checks of the battery system and electric components are recommended in addition to normal brake and tire checks. Other items similar to gas powered vehicles can be needed as well. Some Fluids, suspension items etc.
